{"id":624,"date":"2019-05-20T13:34:29","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T11:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acmad.org\/?page_id=624"},"modified":"2022-11-11T07:36:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-11T06:36:04","slug":"acmad-scientific-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/acmad.org\/index.php\/acmad-scientific-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"SACOM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>Scientific Advisory Committee <\/strong><\/h6>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>The SACOM was established\u00a0 by the\u00a0 decision 2 of the UNECA Conference of Ministers in 1996 to advise the board of Governors on scientific matters and provide proposals and recommendations. Its functions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that the scientific content of programmes and products of the Centre meets the regional requirements and standards;<\/li>\n<li>review the objectives of the centre in the light of emerging economic and scientific developments;<\/li>\n<li>Develop mechanism for determining users needs and assessing benefits realized through the use of the Centre&#8217;s products and services<\/li>\n<li>Follow up scientific developments in areas relevant to the centre;<\/li>\n<li>Examine and streamline programme activities and identify staff requirements taking into account the objectives and outputs of the centre&#8217;s programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">The SACOM is composed of seven eminent scientists selected in their personal capacity by the Centre&#8217;s Board of Governors for a term of four years and the membership will be renewed by 50 per cent every two years. One member shall be proposed by partners.
