About Workshop
<\/strong><\/p>

Climate change is already happening around the world and in Africa. In the coming years and decades, the effects of climate change are expected to be felt more severely in Africa given the high exposure, fragility, and low adaptive capacity of people, buildings, roads, dams and water reservoirs, other infrastructure, industries, and ecosystems with the emerging and unplanned megacities usually in coastal areas or floodplains across the continent.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Better monitoring and understanding of climate threats and related losses and damage costs are needed to gauge priority areas for climate action and delineate options that are more useful to take forward in resilient development initiatives. Therefore, providing climate services and advice to negotiators on climate action and development planners is required.
More importantly, African negotiators at UNFCCC Conferences of Parties and other climate events request information on the African climate variability, trends, and impacts with optimal climate actions to support the continent\u2019s negotiation positions on mitigation, adaptation, and most recently losses and damages.<\/p>

The State of Climate (SoC) report for Africa is a flagship climate product generated under the leadership of the African Union Commission, the World Meteorological Organization and technical support of the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development and other Regional Climate Centres in Africa supporting African negotiators and planners on climate-related matters. Over the past few years, SoC reports have been published and feedback collected to support improvements.<\/p>

A Workshop to explore additional products to support better SoC reports is organized by ACMAD under the leadership of the World Meteorological Organization and the African Union Commission with support of EU funded ClimSA programme.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Objectives :<\/strong><\/p>

Given the strategic value of this report, partners are supporting the organisation of a workshop to review current products and explore improvements on the future content of the SoC reports.<\/p>
