About this Forum

The ClimSA’22 Forum, Advancing Climate Service Applications, will bring participants together to exchange information and learn how to improve the effectiveness of climate services applications through user-friendly, climate smart, Decision Support System (DSS) tools. As users confirmed their needs and expectations during the ClimSA’21Forum, participating Regional Climate Centres (RCCs) expressed their aspiration to be supported to integrate climate information with sectoral production requirements and management models, and to design short-, medium-, and long-term adaptation practice strategies to combat climate change.  

ACMAD at ClimSA’22 Forum

ACMAD will participate at the Forum and will present web-based Tool CLIMTAG (CLimate Information Tool for Agriculture) Tool, which aims to provide decision makers in the agricultural sector with operational climate information, for example about the start of the rainy season or the duration of a drought period. The CLIMTAG-AFRICA Tool offer information for over 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and include more than 30 agro-climate indicators.

As the objective of the annual forum for 2022 is to exchange information and learn how to improve the effectiveness of climate services applications through user-friendly and climate smart, ACMAD’s participant will share experiences on good practices from pilot countries and exchange learnings and experiences in the production and uptake of climate information using CLIMTAG tool, current available climate information and its use by the local agriculture sector will be presented as well as the actionable climate indices for the agricultural sector and their generation with the CLIMTAG tool will be presented to Regional Climate Centres (RCCs) which have expressed their aspiration to be supported to integrate climate information with sectoral production requirements and management models and to design short-,medium-,and long-term adaptation practice strategies to combat climate change
