By advancing science and climate-informed health services and early warning systems, we aim to support countries in anticipating, preparing for, and responding to climate-sensitive health risks.

Dr. Ousmane Ndiaye assumes leadership of ACMAD as the New Director General

On Monday, December 16, 2024, the African Centre of Meteorological Application for Development warmly welcomed its new Director General, Dr. Ousmane Ndiaye, who officially assumed his duties today. To mark the occasion, a general assembly was held in the conference hall, where Dr. Ndiaye met with staff members to present his vision and objectives for ACMAD’s future.

ACMAD Hosts a Joint UN Mission to Strengthen Early Warning Systems and Disaster Risk Reduction in Niger

ACMAD had the pleasure of hosting a joint mission composed of representatives from the UNDRR Regional Office for Africa, AICS Headquarters, AICS Niger, African Union Commission, the Sahel Resilience Project Team (UNDP), and the WMO Regional Office for Africa to explore how to enhance Early warning system in Niger.

The flooding Outlook is a new early warning product developed in collaboration with OCHA’s Regional Office for West and Central Africa. This impact based forecast aims to support anticipatory action specially during the active rainy season for the west and central Africa regions.
